The friend party for LM#1 went well yesterday. He loved his party and had a great time. The kids all seemed to enjoy themselves, we finally ordered enough pizza and only had a few slices left over. I had 36 cupcakes and came home with over 15 I think. That was after giving 5 to a friend, I gave them as many as I could fit on the paper plate. I need to make 36 more cupcakes for Friday so LM#1 can take them to school and celebrate his birthday again. Then the family party is Saturday and I need to make two cakes, one for each little man. It's a lot of baking. Sheesh.
kimannebb: (Cartoon_Avengers)
The weekend was nice, got some things done around the house. The kids went to a neighbors on Sunday so I attacked my desk in the basement and filed stuff away and packed up tax paperwork etc. So I feel good about that.

Movie
We watched Looper, onmygod it wasn't good. The most fascinating part was how much like Bruce Willis they make Joseph Gordon Levit look, kind of scary. I found the movie pointless and not well thought out and I never bought the characters being redeemed. Just. Yeah, wish I hadn't seen it. :(

For TV, we only have 30 minutes left of season two of Orange Is The New Black and we would have finished it if the sync wasn't screwy. They talked and the lips wouldn't move, and we tried reloading and starting over and nothing worked. So hopefully tonight I can finish it.

Work stuff )

TV
Teen Wolf: S3, E22: De-Void )

I took a half day vacation today, worked the morning, and then took a nap this afternoon and now we are watching some TV. Mr. KA and I were supposed to go to a play but it was canceled due to selling only two tickets. Since Mr. KA had to work I just worked as well.

Finally got a package out to ctbn60, I'm pimping Teen Wolf, Almost Human and Sleepy Hollow, thanks to reccea, I was able to put all these in the mail - she will have them tomorrow. *g*

The diet is moving along, up to 17 pounds now. I was hoping to be at 25 for my birthday weekend, but that is a long shot. Sadly I probably would have made it if I was able to exercise. But with the coughing it's not been possible. I will try yoga soon though.
kimannebb: (Cartoon_ForeverYoung)
I went to Escapade and had a great time, loved hanging out with reccea and hederahelix (which doesn't happen nearly enough for my liking). Met some new people as well.

Sadly there was a small issue with wifi connectivity and my work computer, basically that it wasn't working, so I had to be taken to a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in order to get my work done. Then there was the fact that I coughed the whole trip. I really believe people that I had the plague. *g*

Unfortunately I'm still coughing, I'm now taking Tessalin Pearls, something to suppress the coughing, I've taken 5 pills and I've seen no improvement so tomorrow morning I'm hoping that is different. But I'm not feeling well, I feel like I did before the antibiotic. And that just seriously sucks.

I'm behind on tv so there's not much for me to talk about. Although I could rant about Bitten because wow with the bad. Mr. KA seems to be enjoying it but I find no character appealing or likeable and there was snipping of appendages in the last ep that... yeah, kind of pointless if you were going to kill him, why be so cruel? Hence the un-likability of everyone.

Looking forward to Teen Wolf tomorrow. Mr KA and I were supposed to go to a play but they only sold 2 tickets - ours, so they canceled the performance and gave us a refund and a credit for tickets, so that is good. But now we aren't sure what to do. I kind of had it in my head that I was off and I really need the rest. I may take a half a sick day for the afternoon and work the morning where I can be uninterrupted.

I did watch the latest Hawaii 5-0s and the banter and talks between Steve and Danny really are the show for me. I think the weekly crimes are boring and kind of stupid, or perhaps I just am not paying attention.

I joined Tumblr, so if you are there, I'm kimannebb. I don't quite get what I'm doing but I'm reblogging stuff. *g*
kimannebb: (Avengers_SteveTony B&W)
After spending 5 days around LA with friends, I'm home into the frozen tundra. I took a red eye and I had hopes of sleeping but as there was a screaming child on the flight, that didn't happen. And I know how hard it is traveling with young children but that didn't stop me from being frustrated. I did nap for about 3 1/2 hours, longer than I originally anticipated, but I'm tired.

I'm also tired of coughing, which my roommates for Escapade are probably thinking the same thing. I really thought I would be feeling better by now, 5 days of antibiotics, but no, I feel about the same before I left. :( This gets me up to about 18 days of coughing. Fun times.

I loved hanging out with reccea and hederahelix, people I don't get to see nearly enough. And something that came out of the weekend is that I joined Tumblr, still have no idea what I'm doing, but thanks to reccea, I have it started. I chose some colors and a header and did reblog one thing. I'm sure I can get the hang of it eventually, but it seems like a "time suck" which is not something I have a ton of but there are some cool things out there. Right now faradheia has been sending me all these links and I've been loving it, so hopefully that continues while I get my footing in something new.

I did get to rematch of all of season 3B of Teen Wolf while away and I really loved watching it with same minded folks. I have a theory about Stiles and Malia I have a theory )

I haven't watched this week's episode yet, I'm trying to watch some of the other stuff Mr KA watched while I was gone so I'm not horribly behind.

I'm cold, wrapped in a blanket on the couch and I'm still cold. And coughing. Ugh.
kimannebb: (Avengers_SteveTony B&W)
Last night into today we got more snow, this time it was about 12 inches. Then it turned to sleet, then rain and then nothing. But "the tail" is swinging around and we are scheduled to get 3-6 more between 9pm and 1am. Awesome.

My office closed today, which was nice because I only put in about 4 hours. I had to as I have things to do.

I helped shovel, I was out there for 2 hours. The boys enjoyed themselves, so it's good someone did. I love winter but I'm really over this one.

We watched Almost Human today (from Monday) and according to TiVo it was episode 4, and in it Kennix was having flashbacks. Seriously, Fox sucks, just air the eps in the ordered they were intended. Grrr.

Watching the The Walking Dead )

We've been rewatching Veronica Mars season 3 in preparation for the movie in March, it's fun to see it again.
kimannebb: (Avengers_SteveTony B&W)
I think I have them. I think it's just so much going on. I have work which is overwhelming, the snow/ice, kid's soccer, projects. It just seems to mount on top of one another.

I did a bunch of research for summer camp for LM#1. This is the first year he will need it and I looked at a Y and at a private camp facility. The private camp, which is in my town and close by, is cheaper by a couple of hundred. And it goes all summer, unlike the Y which ends several weeks before September.

I also did some research regarding swim lessons. Neither kid knows how to swim, even though LM#1 has had three sets of lessons. But I need him to swim before camp because if he can't he sits, and I don't want that for him. And he's so close, I think he could do it if he has more confidence in himself. So there are swim lessons at the Y or the local high school. Neither are cheap, however the Y is stating that if we join as a family we get 8 weeks worth of swim lessons free. I'm kind of leaning toward the Y. I can go and do classes, we can use the pool whenever and the kids can attend specials there.

All of this has been given to Mr. KA and I'm waiting for him to review. It's a bit ridiculous. I spend my time putting it together and he goes over a week without looking at it. I'm trying not to get too annoyed as this is the man that arranged it so I slept until 9:50 on Saturday and didn't return with the kids until 12:30. But geez, just read it!!!

I bought a package of 10 frames varying in sizes before Christmas and I took the time this weekend to take down the old frames and put up the new ones. Right now it looks silly because the frames are empty, but I think I really like it.

I spent last night on Shutterfly ordering pictures so all frames could be updated. I also sent pictures of the boys out to friends and family from December and January. So I'm on top of that.

Yet there is still a laundry basket of towels sitting, mocking me, in the loving room that needs to be folded. *sigh* (and to add to the mocking, they are actually from last week, not this past weekend)

The diet is going ok, have not been as faithful as I should be, but it's still progressing in the right direction. So I need to focus on that.

Olympics Have not been watching but recorded a bunch because LM#1 was interested. So I have showed him some speed skating, wasn't impressed; cross country skiing, not fast enough for him (although he got interested when he saw they shot something) and icing skating, which he seemed catptivated by. When one skater did a really tight, fast turn (to end the routine), he was all 'wow'. It was cute. He's looking forward to snowboarding, which I should be able to show him tonight.

Work Well this is just busy. I should be working through my lunch but I don't feel like it. I have so much to do and just not enough time, nor the staff. Which, considering I have more people here than normal shouldn't be a problem, but they are new. I have testing to set up and complete by Friday. I haven't even started it yet. Ugh.

The new diet that I'm doing is two shakes a day, a 400-600 calorie meal, and one cleanse day. A friend introduced me to it and I have seen her results and I want that. So. Today was the first cleanse day where I eat nothing. I have lots of water and I mis a lot of the water with supplements from the company, there are these green tea chocolates that are good and pretty vial chocolate wafer things. But I made it through the day. It wasn't as hard as I thought, but I did get really hungry at times. (That shake tomorrow morning is going to be divine.) Going forward I will do a cleanse day at work. The reason is I had to make lunch and dinner and that was difficult as I kept wanting to put food in my mouth.

Tomorrow is the Super Bowl and LM#1 asked about watching it, so we are going to start watching some of it with the kids, I'm interested to see how long they last. :)

Been catching Hollywood Game Night when there is a celebrity I'm interested in. This week was Michael Weatherly, plus Michele Tractenberg - dude, she is hardcore, a ver competive person, you could tell, she didn't like losing. :P the show is fun, but I have to admit that Jane Lynch is a tad annoying, she tries to be funny, but most of the time it's awkward. In my opinion.

Out of the 5 workdays this week, I got up and did some movement exercises 4 of them. I think that is an accomplishment. The program is going alright, but each day I seem to eat something additional I shouldn't. Last night it was a chocolate chip cookie after resisting the goodies at work all day. But I suppose one cookie is not going to ruin everything else, so I keep going. Tomorrow is the really hard "cleanse" day where I just drink stuff all day. That will be difficult.

Work. Well I sat with the staff yesterday and gave everyone their Reviews. It went fine, just that Staff Member K seems to have a different memory of her year, sadly her Review is subpar and it will be reflect in the no merit and low bonus. But in her Review she feels that it wasn't that bad, a few mistakes here and there. Yeah. That's not how it worked, and I'm a bit disturbed that she thinks so. The merit stuff doesn't come out until mid-late February so I'll worry about it then. Right now I need to focus on transitioning the workload from the other office to my staff (where I'm one person short).
kimannebb: (Cartoon_ForeverYoung)
So today was not a good day for dieting as I made more stuff than I was supposed to. It was a work at home day and that is never good. But I kept it to popcorn and chocolate chip cookies, ok that second one is not good. Still better than a regular work at home day. I did get up this morning and do the movement exercises. I plan to get up tomorrow as well. And we will go forward and do better. *sigh* Right?

TV
We watched the second episode of Bitten, it's ok. They have established more rules and backstory. Not a big fan of her being the only female, however I'm sure as the show goes on there will be more that show up. Still not sure if she wanted it or had to be talked into it, and of course we don't know what happened between Elena and the dude that doesn't have buttons on his shirt higher than mid-chest.

Oh and when he wrestles/fights with his fellow pack member he needs to be shirtless. Also found it add that one of the pack members was in bed with her with only shorts on. Like there was nothing odd about that. Yet, there is. :P I think Mr. KA is more into me than me, I will give it one more I think and then make a decision.

I mainlined American Horror Story: Coven today. I had three of them and let them run while working, so I didn't really watch them. More like listened. I want to finish the season as i made it through so much already, don't want to leave it unfinished. Not sure if I will tune in next year as I need to whittle the shows I watch alone.

Did see Teen Wolf: S3: E18: Illuminated )

Thought this past Monday's episode of HIMYM was good, one of the best. I loved how they tied everything together. They made such a great casting choice for the Mom, those are some really hard shoes to fill but they found the perfect person. And the episode made me all teary, damn them. I think that while there have been some episodes this season that were not good, or kind of boring/pointless, I think their idea of doing every hour leading up the wedding was cool. A unique concept to end the series on. Overall I have really enjoyed the series, sure there were highs and lows, but more highs than most comedies lately. Hopefully the show can really go out on a high note.

So I read today that there was a Christian singer that walked out of the Grammys because of Katy Perry's performance for "Dark Horse". I thought it was pretty good, lots of fun, it was dark and eerie. But to leave because it was too satanic? That a viewer would feel their spirituality threatened? Really? I just can't understand that, it was entertainment and I can't see it as an attack on Christianity or a supporting of satanism. I don't get it.

The President is speaking tonight, I will not be watching because I just can't take sitting there and listening to all the stupid applause etc. I will read the transcript tomorrow during lunch (I'll find it online somewhere), but tonight I will try to continue to watch some TV shows with the hubby.
kimannebb: (Cartoon_ForeverYoung)
TV
We tried Black Sails, and yes the pilot aired last week and I just got to it yesterday. It was ok. It didn't grab me like Game of Thrones though, the characters seemed to lack depth, or details or something. It looked nice. Some of the guys are hot. But... eh is my feeling. I'll tune in again see what episode two is like.

The Blacklist. I have not been happy with the past couple of episodes. Except for James Spader the writing is so weak that I can't push passed it anymore. Again, this was last week's episode, but Tom and Lizzie going forward with the adoption? First off, unrealistic as I don't think any agency would place an infant in their care. And Secondly, you know she is really into her work right now. Maybe in another year once the shine of the new position and Reddington is no longer pulling strings so easily. I just find it stupid that these two grown adults still think it's a good idea. But James Spader continues to be awesome.

True Detective I like a lot. The acting is amazing and I love the location and just the storytelling. This one is a keeper.

Since Glee has been gone for so long it will be easy to just not watch it when it returns. I enjoy the songs but I haven't realy looked forward to it in a while. That being said, I have a White Collar, three (possibly four) American Horror Stories, six South Parks and one Last Man Standing. So I'm in the hole. :P

Started the diet on Sunday. The shakes don't taste too bad, actually very chocolatey. Just made one at work with a stick-mixer-thing. I'm hungry though. I did get up and exercise this morning, it was low impact but that's what I need right now. So many times in the past I just jump in and go full throttle and then get sick. So I'm trying a different approach.

Still waiting to hear from my brother about the boys sleeping over, so I am going to make a date night and he will just have to deal. I've been waiting for over two weeks, that is plenty of time. Annoying that he can't seem to get it together with the wife to figure out a Saturday for the boys to come over and hang out. I'm sure if I called and asked for the girls he'd be all over that. Sheesh.
kimannebb: (Cartoon_ForeverYoung)
… is that when they irritate you it's kind of your fault. :P

So I watch Pretty Little Liars and the hubby and I are behind so he decided that tonight will be a marathon (three episodes). And I enjoy the show, it's fun, most of the girls are decent actors, but the hardest thing about the show is remembering the girls are seniors in high school. That perhaps they are young and their decisions, while sometimes ridiculous, reflect the age appropriately.

Perhaps.

I steadily ignore the clothes, because no high school dresses like them. On a side note, I've decided that no high school in real life dresses like high schools on TV. Most of the outfits are over the top and seem to be ready for college ages.

The worst character is Emily, her mood swings are haphazard and usually uncalled for. Every gay young lady that comes into contact with her finds her attractive and she makes doe eyes but then goes back to the current girlfriend. And she is the least talented actress.

The hardest thing though is wishing that the characters would just talk to each other. They are cryptic when there is no need and then something happens to make it worse and then they tell the others anyway. Why not just tell them originally.

ETA: OMG!!!! One of the girls moved in with her boyfriend (temporarily I"m sure) but still, geezus this stuff does not happen. Not unless there are some violent things happening at home and in this case there's not. Plus, add in the fact that Aria is choosing Ezra over the nice karate teacher is stupid. I suppose this is where I have to write it off as high school decisions.

Teen Wolf: S3, E15: Galvanize )

So there's more snow today. And surprise the weather forecasters did not get the timing or measurements right. Most of the week I heard the snow would be arriving between 9-12 and be 1-2 inches. It arrived about 10 but then continued to snow until after 4 and I think there is 3 inches out there. I will try and be thankful they have been right about when we are getting snow and I will have to accept that. Due to the snow we did not take the kids bowling, we were going to do that today, but felt it wise not to bother to go out.

Tomorrow I will go food shopping after Church and maybe we will go tomorrow afternoon. With the kid's help I put away all the "winter" decorations and put out Valentine's Day. The kids decorated the front living room windows with clings and rubber clings. Very heart filled and festive. We then made a single batch of chocolate chip cookies. As I was doing it the batter was liquify after the eggs went in. I had trouble getting everything to "mix" together. It was weird. Now the brown sugar was harder than normal, and the white sugar was clumpy at first, but I got through that. I finally got the batter to mix and then I added the flour, which was mostly white flour but about a quarter cup of wheat pastry flour because I ran out of white and everything was already in the bowl.

The batter was "grainy" but tasted ok. The kids helped spoon it onto the cookie sheets and I baked them almost a sheet at a time. They are the best "looking" cookies I've made in a long long time. They tasted pretty good too. Weird right?

Tomorrow I start a diet, one based on shakes and cleanses. A friend has found success and encouraged me to give it a go. It's a bit expensive but if I'm able to start losing weight, it will be worth it. So, wish me luck to find the strength to follow the routine and finding time to exercise.
kimannebb: (Lemony_BiteMe)
*sigh* We are getting more snow. Mother Nature may read my icon. We have shoveled twice for a total of 11 inches so far and the last time I looked it was still snowing outside. The schools were closed today, and they are already closed tomorrow.

I went into work today because I had two new people starting. I sent everything home about 11:45, it wasn't early enough evidently. Took me 2 hours, another person 3, another person 4. Are you kidding me. That being said I already told my team that they need to work from home tomorrow. The question is if the hubby's office will close (it's already opening at 10:30) or mine will be late (highly unlikely).

If the snow wasn't bad enough the high temp tomorrow is 17, with a windchill of 0. Awesome-sauce.

Watched Sherlock: The Empty Hearse. Way more amusing than I thought it would be. I did think Sherlock went a little overboard in one scene, being too … mean? insensitive? I don't know. However he showed so much growth regarding Molly, that was such a big step for him to just be quiet.

We have decided to stop watching the Michael J Fox show, I enjoy it, think it's cute, think MJFox has a strength that something else. We just have too much to watch that we are letting this one go.
kimannebb: (Cartoon_Avengers)
It's the best. This link takes you to a few photos of RDJ and Benedict Cumberbatch. *ggg* Awesome. http://cumbercrieff.tumblr.com/post/73933810021/sherlock-holmies-x
(yeah, I don't know how to do the link thing anymore)

Today the kids went to daycare/babysitting and the hubby and I spent some time together. I got a massage and then changed the sheets on the beds, washed/dried the towels, cleaned up and organized my area of the bedroom. I have to admit that I let it get really messy. Now there's a nice bureau and my tshirts are organized and I have a bad of clothes to be given away. Also cleaned my personal sink and went through some of the crap under it so it is better. Put away the cans for cookies.

Now I want to try and hang new frames on the wall. They will be empty for a bit but I want to redesign the wall in the dining rom. The hubby will pick up the kids and tonight we are going to have pancakes/waffles because I want to try out my new electric griddle. Also going to cook a pot roast for later in the week.

We tried Bitten, not bad, it get better after the first 15 minutes. Not sure what we will do but we are going to give it another episode. Part of me doesn't want to add anything anymore considering our watching list is so long, however the hubby pointed out that if we did that we wouldn't be enjoying Lost Girl.

Regarding Lost Girl, most interesting start to the season for sure, very well done. And I think that Ksenia Solo looked incredible, not sure if it's because she's slightly older or she gained just a few pounds, but she just seems rounded out and more gorgeous. Or something.
kimannebb: (Cartoon_Avengers)
This weekend was nice as I got to see some friends on Saturday. Sadly the first friend told me she and her husband have separated. It's a shame, but it's been months in the making and she seems as peace with it. The annoying thing about it is that they have a special needs son and one of the things the husband said was that she wasn't there for him and he didn't really have a wife/friend anymore. Their son takes a lot of her time and his job has him out until 10pm, so it's been rough… for a while. But while she's at home taking care of their son he found himself a girl and had an affair. Putz. Grrr.

Then I saw my aunt who had surgery for cancer removal from her face and then reconstructive surgery. She was looking good and doing well.

I finished my Saturday with a much more fun time with creatch, Lin and syndi talking tv, watching episodes of Arrow and having a yummy dinner.

The hubby and I are very behind in watching. Just watched the first episode of True Detective and I really liked it. Interesting concept and the way the episodes are playing out. I think we'll watch extra shows tomorrow since we are both home and the kids aren't. I'm also hoping that I will get a few things done tomorrow.
